Kudzu root is widely used in the treatment of *cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes and diabetic complications, osteonecrosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and endometriosis. The beneficial effects of puerarin on the various medicinal purposes may be due to its wide spectrum of pharmacological properties such as vasodilation, cardioprotection, neuroprotection, antioxidant, anticancer, antiinflammation, alleviating pain, promoting bone formation, inhibiting alcohol intake, and attenuating insulin resistance.

In Chinese Medicine, Kudzu Root is often used for the *common cold or flu, which are seen as external pathogens. It is particularly appropriate when there is muscular tightness and stiffness in upper back and neck, fever, and headache. Kudzu also is used to stop thirst, diarrhea, and dysentery. It can also *treat headache, dizziness, paresthesias, or tinnitus as a result of hypertension.
